Career development is an ongoing process through which participants integrate their personal, family, school, work, and community experiences to facilitate career and lifestyle choices.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the program are it identify and develop attainable educational and career goals, and provide the foundation for learning essential skills, in order to prepare Youth to successfully integrate or reintegrate into the education system, opening the doors for meaningful and satisfying careers.
The Step by Step program will provide participants with guidance in choosing an educational plan based on self awareness, career exploration and mentored work experience.
To achieve this objective, the Step by Step program will provide an opportunity to enhance skills in personal and professional development in order to:
- Enable - participants to develop and implement educational & career goals. goal plans for careers.
- Provide specific training in transferable skills which will improve learning potential for further training and employment;
- Provide mentored work experience.
TARGET GROUP
The program is open to:
- recent Listuguj Mi’gmaq high school graduates including;
- Regular Sector
- Adult Education
- GED High School Equivalency
- recent first year college / university post-secondary students who withdrew or have been dismissed
